Grace Perry
Founder and Creative Director of CTWB

Hi, I'm Grace, founder of CTWB where I use creativity to connect communities and inspire a sense of magic and global compassion around the world.

What began with one school rebuild collaboration has grown into an international  initiative spanning schools, public events and creative programmes across over 28 countries.

Working with communities, not about them.

Creative Philosophy

I never wanted CTWB to simply document from a distance. The intention has always been to build something collaborative, imaginative and shared. CTWB is rooted in the belief that creativity can reveal beauty, connection and a shared sense of humanity across borders.

June 2025 with Village by Village.

A cold call to Village by Village (an absolutely fantastic charity organisation building schools and infrastructure for rural communities in Ghana) found me proposing a raw idea to CEO Neil Kerfoot. I asked to create custom artwork for a school that the team were building and offered to send the canvas to the nearest mailing spot. To my utter suprise and a slight delusion, Neil agreed to collaborate with me on the proposal and soon I sat in front of my laptop camera on a Zoom call with both Neil himself and Aikins Mensa, Volunteer Director on the ground in Ghana. I was given context and history of both the country's trade and environment and recommended further reading to support with the creation of the canvas. Village by Village itself has the backing of Microsoft for some funded projects and to add to my shock, my proposal and artwork was ran past Microsoft for their support of implementing the idea!

Artwork created and in transit, I waited for the update that it had reached Koforidua. Kukua Primary School had its grand opening just shortly before and when my artwork finally made it, I received some beautiful photos of the canvas being assembled and the students and staff feedback.

It was on reading the feedback that I noticed how varied the exposure to art was across continents, countries and individuals. Some students had very imaginative interpretations of the artwork while others were unsure what it actually was of. I had been informed that many of these students found education difficult to access and resources were limited. Village by Village operate wonderful programmes to help combat this and are very inspirational in their efforts to minimise this gap. This experience is where my mission began and I am beyond grateful to Neil and Aikins for the memorable and          rewarding opportunity they gave me to collaborate with them.

June 2025

Koforidua, Ghana.

My journey started gifting art to a newly built primary school in rural Ghana. After a wonderful call with Neil Kerfoot, the CEO of Village by Village, I began creating a custom canvas for the children's new school.

I listened to the feedback from the students and realised how different cultures and         communities around the world had such varied exposures and perspectives on art.

In a new effort to engage with the wider art scene around the world I started collecting strangers perspectives on the meaning of art itself.

6th December 2025

Initiative Launch.

After much research and a long lasting impression from the children's responses in Koforidua, I launched CTWB on Instagram as a global art initiative. I opened with my first international community project that gained responses from over 26+ countries.

26th December 2025

Abu Shiha School,
Gaza.

I was delighted to secure my first education partnership running an Art for Writing exchange with the Abu Shiha School in Gaza. Truly honoured to work with TK, Yasmine and the resilient students of Abu Shiha to run this.

NOW

...growing.

Currently I am looking to grow, expand and strengthen relationships within the Art for Writing programmes, prepare for our very first event bringing CTWB to London and develop our new podcast!

"Writing as an art helps our children express feelings, process experiences, and build confidence. It strengthens creativity, language skills, and imagination while giving them a powerful voice to share their stories."
- Headmaster Jacques, Malezi Primary School.
